Leave of Absence is a fourteen page, unbound photographic journal documenting a process of deconstruction that allowed transformative patterns to emerge. A digital photograph of an insect-eaten kale leaf was inkjet printed in sepia on hand dyed cotton organdy, hand-stitched, cut, manipulated, scanned, and reprinted multiple times. Rather than the object becoming the final product, a book about the process is what remains.
