Journals and Memoirs Through 2020
Awareness, with an emphasis on "seeing", is a good reason for keeping a journal. Each page records a unique, singular moment in time. My journals are personal, but not private. They are a place to record and playfully illustrate.
A partner to the journalistic visual diary is the memoir. Living in a house with so much history, and acknowledging that I'm not getting any younger, has led me to create books devoted to my own history. Hopefully, these books will be saved and passed down to future generations. As I've delved deeply into house and family history, I've so often wished I could know the stories behind so many names from the past. It seems important to "leave a trace."
